Introduction:

 

The School offers an advanced program leading to the PhD degree in all areas of management. Admission to this program is open to individuals from a range of academic disciplines, including engineering, natural science, humanities and the social sciences. The maximum duration permitted for the course is six years.

 

Eligibility:

 

1. B.E./ B.Tech or equivalent with first class (55% for SC/ST) and minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent degree with first class at graduation and post graduation level (55% for SC/ST)

 

2. M.Sc./M.A./M.Com or equivalent with first class (55 % for SC/ST) at graduation and post graduation levels, and minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.

 

3. Master of Management/M.B.A. or equivalent with first class at graduation and post graduation levels (55% for SC/ST)

 

Admission Procedure:

 

Advertisements for admission to Ph.D. program are given in major newspapers and applications are invited twice a year for Autumn (July) and Spring (January) semesters. The admission is offered on the basis of an interview held usually a month before the commencement of the semester for which admission is sought. The interview may be supplemented by a written test, if necessary. Successful candidates are sent admission letters and they are supposed to join prior to a date set by IIT. Upon admission students have to complete minimum course requirements, before commencing with their doctoral research under the guidance of a supervisor and a research progress committee.

 

Application Procedure:

 

You are required to obtain an application form for admission to the PhD programme from the Deputy Registrar, IIT Bombay. The cost of application is Rs.300/- for General candidates and Rs.150/- for SC/ST candidates. Please write to him enclosing a demand draft for the prescribed amount in favour of REGISTRAR, IIT  Bombay drawn on SBI, IIT Powai Branch. You are also required to send a self addressed envelope of size 27cms*12 cms, affixed with stamp of Rs.16 along with the request for the application form.
